CAD Viewing Software

In order to make the most of our online project management, we recommend that you install one of the following software. These viewers will allow you to view and edit the CAD drawings posted to related projects in our online management system.

Volo(tm) View
Volo(tm) View is Autodesk's web-enabled review and markup tool for engineering data, including the industry-standard DWG, DXF(tm), and DWF formats. Volo View enables design teams to communicate ideas efficiently and review designs quickly, without access to AutoCAD(r) software. Offering true fidelity with AutoCAD-based products, it's the easiest way for everyone on your project team to access AutoCAD drawings.

Volo(tm) View Express
Volo(tm) View Express is a freely downloadable application that lets you display and print AutoCAD(r) drawings without AutoCAD software. You can exchange information with everyone involved in your project or on your design team, independent of a computer-aided design program...and it's free!

What's the difference between Volo View and Volo View Express?
Volo View Express offers scaled-down Volo View functionality and is free. Volo View Express allows you to open, view, do lightweight markup, and print AutoCAD drawings, including DWG, DXF(tm) (using the optional install, see above) and DWF files. With Volo View Express, you can view AutoCAD drawings and models either locally or over the Internet, with high fidelity and without risking changes to the original data.

The full version, Volo View, offers more functionality than Volo View Express. With Volo View, you can open, view, print, plot to scale, measure, and perform complete ActiveShapes(r) markup on AutoCAD data as well as other CAD-related data files. With Volo View, you can view any raster format that can be inserted into an AutoCAD 2000 drawing.

Volo View Express Update for Internet Explorer 5.01 Users
This patch will correct a bug with Volo View Express that occurs when users try to view CAD files using Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or later. An error message in the form of a 'file not found' error will be generated every time a CAD file is viewed. To correct this bug, please download and install this patch.

Step 1: Download the new file, Click Here

Step 2: Copy the downloaded file into the directory where you installed Volo View Express. The typical installation directory is

C:\Program Files\Autodesk Volo View.

Note: This will replace version 129 of the axiov.dll file located there.
